FROM THE UN RESIDENT COORDINATOR

INDIA: Uttarakhand Floods

United Nations Resident Coordinator in India, Ms. Lise Grande, reiterated the UN’s condolences to the Government of India and the State Government of Uttarakhand on the devastating floods that resulted in a great loss of life and destroyed infrastructure.

She confirmed that the UN has issued no information on the loss of life or number of missing people.

Ms. Grande confirmed that the United Nations stands ready to lend its assistance to emergency recovery and rebuilding efforts if needed.
